What I work with

· Adolescents: I have a history of building excellent therapeutic rapport with my patients and adolescents are no exception. I have a history of success with adolescents who “refuse” to see a therapist.

· Mind/Body connection: My specializations in clinical hypnosis and Neurofeedback act as effective tools in addressing the mind/body connection. If it has to do with the relationship between the mind and the body then I'm likely a good match as a therapist

· Anxiety Disorders: Generalized and Unspecified Anxiety Disorders ·Panic Disorders · Social Anxiety Disorder · Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder · Simple Phobias

· Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Including emotional, physical and sexual abuse, rape, trauma, war, accidents, experiencing or witnessing violence, medical mistreatment

· Depression

· Somatoform Disorders: Somatization Disorder · Conversion Disorder · Undifferentiated Somatoform Disorders · Chronic Pain

· Dissociative Disorders: Including Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder)

· Adjustment Disorders: Multiple changes in life including recent marriage, divorce, job change, retirement, birth of a child, chronic illness, return to school, "midlife crisis" etc.)

· Traumatic Brain Injury

· Sexual Addiction

· Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

· Aspergers Disorder

Please note: I recently calculated that I have worked with 142 different mental health disorders. If you have questions about what I do or do not work with, please contact me.

Age:  I tend to work with people age 12 and over, although as young as age 5 with Neurofeedback

Additional specialties: I utilize Clinical Hypnosis and am a member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. My BA is in Art and I use Art Therapy with appropriate clients.

Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback Combined: For some, the combination of counseling and Neurofeedback can be a powerful therapeutic tool. One specific form of Neurofeedback, Alpha/Theta training, is used for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and addictions. For PTSD, Alpha/Theta training brings the brain into a state where a person is able to process traumatic events in a more effective way than talk therapy alone.  Combining psychotherapy and Neurofeedback creates a bridge between the psychological (mind) and physiological (body), using qEEG (hence  www.MindBodyQEEG.com!).

Fees: I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna Coventry/MHNet and Amerigroup insurance for psychotherapy. I am routinely being listed on additional insurance panels, so please check as I may have recently become approved. I work with self-pay clients who choose to not use insurance for multiple reasons including no record of diagnosis being given to insurance company which can affect future life, health or disability insurance. Also, by not dealing with insurance, insurance companies cannot dictate your psychotherapeutic needs. Sliding-fee service is available.  I encourage potential and current patients to discuss any financial concerns with me.
